Who We Serve
Our application process is designed to ensure that students who are accepted to Camperdown Academy will benefit from the Orton-Gillingham Approach. Camperdown accepts students in grades one through eight with a primary diagnosis of a language-based learning difference such as dyslexia. An applicant's cognitive ability (full scale intelligence quotient determined by a psychologist) must fall in the average to superior range. Our program requires that students have the intellectual ability to acquire information and move forward in our curriculum. Camperdown does not accept students with a primary diagnosis of autism, emotional disabilities, or conduct disorders. While some of our students may also have ADHD as a secondary diagnosis to dyslexia, no one is admitted with only a diagnosis of ADHD. We accept qualified candidates without regard to race, sex, creed, religion, color, or national ethnic origin.
